Determining directions using a watch

  1. You will need a watch which shows the correct time. Place it horizontally.
  2. If you are in the north temperature zone point the hour hand toward the sun. If you are in the south temperature zone point the 1200 hour dial toward the sun.
  3. A north-south line can be found midway between the hour hand and the 1200 hour dial. If on daylight saving time this line can be found midway between the hour hand and the 1300 hour dial.
  4. Remember that the sun is always in the east before noon and in the west after noon.
